Transit visas to Australia

This is for non-Australian citizens that are transiting Australia to another country, such as airline crews, and they must obtain a visa overseas before coming to Australia.

A transit visa is required even if a traveller remains on the same aircraft in the same airport.

The relevant visa is called a Transit visa which is free of charge and allows the holder to enter and remain in Australia for up to 72 hours.

Some non-citizen passengers that intend to transit Australia by air within 8 hours of their arrival and hold the confirmed booking and documentation necessary to enter the country of their destination, do not need a transit visa because they are deemed to possess a special purpose visa as long as they do not leave the transit lounge.

ASSISTANCE WITH THIS VISA OR OTHER VISAS?

This is rarely a problem, and you do not need a migration agent with this visa. However, here is our general link to the Migration Agents Registration Authority so that you can better understand what migration agents do in regard to visas, their responsibilities and your rights as a member of the public in regard to Australian Visas and Citizenship.
