To apply for this visa, you MUST be under 45 years of age, MUST have a good command of the English language, MUST have the skills and qualifications necessary for the visa, and you MUST have relatives living in Australia who are willing to sponsor you. If you don’t have a relative then you can apply under the Skilled Independent Visa to Australia. If you have a relative living in a regional area then it’s best to apply under the Skilled Designated Area Sponsored Visa to Australia.
All applicants will need to: meet the basic requirements; nominate an occupation on the skilled occupations list; pass the points test; have a sponsor; and have an assurer. Currently, a sponsor can be your aunt, uncle, brother, sister, or parent who MUST be a permanent resident or citizen of Australia. An assurer is an individual who lives in Australia, and is a permanent resident or citizen of Australia, and who agrees to provide you with financial support. The person who sponsors you need not be the person who assures your support.
