This visa may only be applied for from inside Australia by a person legally in Australia. This visa is sometimes referred to as the Onshore Designated Area Sponsored New Zealand Citizen Visa. It is for New Zealanders in Australia who wish to apply for Australian permanent residency. An Australian relative may sponsor you provided that they live inside one of the designated areas listed in the DIMIA website. If you do not have a sponsor then it’s best to apply for a Skilled Independent New Zealand Citizen Visa. If you have a sponsor that resides in the city area of Australia then it’s best to apply for a Skilled New Zealand Citizen Sponsored Visa.
Candidates must meet the basic requirements of all skilled visas and is not points tested. To apply for this category, you must satisfy the basic requirements. You must nominate an occupation on the Skilled Occupations List. You must have an Australian sponsor and the sponsor must live in a designated area of Australia. An Assurance of Support is also required.
There is no points test for this category. To sponsor a migrant to Australia, you must be either an Australian permanent resident or an Australian citizen. If you are an Australian permanent resident, then you must have been in Australia for at least one year, and be financially independent before you can sponsor someone else.
