State/Territory Sponsored Investor Visa to Australia

Investor visas have two distinct stages of application.

The candidate must apply for a provisional visa prior to making an application for a permanent visa. In the case of this visa, the appropriate provisional visa is the State/Territory Sponsored Investor (Provisional) Subclass 165. Attaining this visa will permit the candidate to come to Australia and to commence their business. After successfully operating and maintaining the business for two years, the candidate may make application for a permanent Business Owner (Residence) Visa Subclass 890 or the State/Territory Sponsored Investor (Residence) Visa Subclass 893 or the Investor (Residence) Visa 891.

The general rules are that a candidate must:

  • gain sponsorship from a designated State or Territory;
  • must live in that region for at least two years;
  • must have a successful record of business or investment management;
  • must have significant business and personal assets;
  • have sufficient net assets to settle in Australia;
  • have no history of unacceptable business activities;
  • be less than 55 years old, unless exceptional circumstances exist; and
  • must be prepared to make substantial investment in a designated investment for 4 years.

The criteria for entry to Australia as a business-skills migrant are complex and relate closely to your personal history of business success and your research and plans for the new business. States and Territories in Australia encourage business migrants, and they assist with advice, information on tax, commercial real estate availability, and help and support for family settlement.

Individuals in Australia on a Provisional sponsored visa can apply for a non sponsored Residence Visa or the reverse. State or Territory sponsorship eases the requirements of financing and age. Government representatives are easy to talk with and respond well to carefully thought out proposals.

ASSISTANCE WITH THIS VISA OR OTHER VISAS?

This is a complicated visa application and the outcome of any application is problematic. Each visa candidate must meet the demanding requirements of the visa application. Each must find sponsorship. The help of a migration agent is very strongly advised. Here is our general link to the Migration Agents Registration Authority so that you can better understand what migration agents do with regard to visas, their duties and your rights in regard to Agents’ work in Australian Visas and Citizenship.
