Business Owner Visa to Australia

The Australian Business Skills visa class is to allow flourishing business people to develop new or existing businesses while permanently residing in Australia. The Australian Business Skills visa program comprises four categories:

• Business Owner visa: for  proprietors or part-proprietors of a business; 
• Senior Executive visa: for senior management employees of major businesses;
• Investor visa: for investors/business entrepreneurs willing to invest in Australia;
• Business Talent visa: for high-calibre business people sponsored by a State/Territory.

The Australian Business Skills visa program also has two categories for people whom are residing in Australia with a temporary visa.

• Established Business in Australia visas: for those who are residing in Australia on a temporary visa and are proprietors or part-proprietors of a business; and
  
• Regional Established Business in Australia visas: for those who are residing in Australia on a temporary visa and are proprietors or part-proprietors of a business in a designated area of Australia.

To be eligible for an Australian provisional business visas applicants must have:

• a thriving business or investment career; and
• a genuine dedication to engage in business activities while in Australia.

To qualify, there are certain basic requirements that must be met, but there is no points test. Applications with visa sponsorship from an Australian State/Territory Government receive a higher priority. Moreover, the rules concerning age, English language ability, business turnover and assets are easier to meet for this visa.

Summary of application difficulty: application complicated, supporting detail meticulous, cost of government fees moderately high, agent’s fees moderately high.

The Residence visa is for those who have already held a provisional visa and have established a business in Australia or have become prosperous in a previously running business which the person has taken over. It is not possible to make an application for this visa if you have not already had a provisional visa. Or the pre-March 2003 Independent Executive visa (subclass 457IE). When you have become prosperous in a business in Australia, residence visas are not too hard to acquire. The needs for the residence visa are lower than the needs for the Provisional visa.
