Spouse / De Facto Spouse Visa to Australia

Are you an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident who wishes to sponsor a spouse or de facto spouse or partner to Australia? You and your partner must be either married or in a committed de facto spouse relationship. If your partner is travelling to Australia to marry you, but you are not married at the moment, then you should apply for the Fiancé (Prospective Marriage Partner) Visa. If your partner is of the same sex as you and you are in a relationship, you should apply for the Interdependent Partner Migration Visa to Australia.

Half of DIMIA’s Australian migration target levels are for Family Program Visas. The Spouse Visa application is one of the more important and depends almost entirely on your relationship with your partner rather than your work qualifications or your employment record.

One important requirement is that the Australian sponsor and the applicant must be 18 years old or older.

For information on the Spouse Visa and  Information on Sponsorship for this Visa, go to the immi.gov.au website and search under spouse visa. The department changes this information and the referencing page too frequently to footnote here.

ASSISTANCE WITH THIS VISA OR OTHER VISAS?

You may find the proof element of this visa difficult and an agent is very useful. Here is our general link to the Migration Agents Registration Authority so that you can better understand what migration agents do with regard to visas, their responsibilities and your rights as a member of the public in regard to Australian Visas and Citizenship.
