Resident Return Visa to Australia

A Resident Return Visa (RRV) is for permanent residents, or former citizens who have lost their citizenship or whose permanent resident visa has expired, to return to Australia.

A Resident Return visa (RRV) is valid for a period of either three months or five years depending on the circumstances of the application. It allows Australian permanent residents to travel to and from Australia as often as they wish within the validity of their visa, while maintaining their status as Australian permanent residents. It is only Australian citizens who have the right to enter Australia without a visa, permanent residents need to have a valid Resident Return Visa have the right to enter Australia without a visa. Permanent residents must have a valid Resident Return Visa (RRV), or "old-style" Authority to Return (ATR) or Return Endorsement (RE) if they wish to travel to and from Australia and retain their permanent resident status. This is true even if they will only be out of Australia for a couple of days.
