Skilled–State Territory Nominated Independent Visa to Australia



The Skilled – State Territory Nominated Independent Visa to Australia is designed for people who are very highly skilled and have education, skills and employability. Their skills must be such that they are currently in demand in that State or Territory. The applicant must also be willing to settle in States and Territories where their skills are in demand. 

To apply for this category you must:


1.  Satisfy the basic requirements which are:

  • the candidate must not be older than forty-five years;
  • the candidate must have an acceptable standard of English for employment in Australia;
  • the candidate must have tertiary (university or trade) credentials;
  • the candidate must pass skills assessments set by an appropriate assessing authority;
  • the candidate must have been working for at least 12 of the 18 months in their nominated occupation before lodgement of the application.

If you are unable to satisfy these basic requirements, you should NOT continue with a general skilled migration application.

 

2.  Nominate a skilled occupation from the Skilled Occupations List and which must also be on the State or Territories list of demand occupations.


 

3.  Meet at least the pool mark for the Skilled–Independent category; and


 

4.  Be nominated by a participating State or Territory. Current participating State and Territories are South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.

 

Participating States and Territories select nominees to meet a skill shortage in their area.

If you are successful you are obligated to:
* remain in the State or Territory for at least two years;
* keep authorities informed of changes in address; and
* take part in surveys as required.
